About DarkMattr
DarkMattr is an Antwerp-based consultancy founded in 2021, working at the cutting edge of digital technology — AWS cloud architecture, customer identity & access management, cybersecurity, privacy and AI. We work with B2B and B2C businesses that need serious technical depth, not a generalist.
Our team has been on both sides of the table: building enterprise-grade platforms as consultants, and running technology as founders and operators. That includes founding and scaling a CIAM startup to enterprise revenue and ISO 27001 certification, leading a four-year digital transformation for a major Belgian airport, and embedding directly inside a fast-growing AI security company as a hands-on engineer. We bring that operator instinct — for what actually ships, breaks, and scales — into every engagement.
We stay deliberately small and senior. Every engagement is delivered by consultants who do the architecture and the implementation themselves — no bench, no junior handoffs, no slideware between the advice and the outcome.

Why the name
Dark matter makes up most of the universe’s mass — invisible, never observed directly, known only by the way it bends everything around it.
Most of what makes a digital business actually work is the same: the identity layer nobody logs into on purpose, the cloud architecture nobody notices until it buckles, the security posture that’s only visible in its absence. That’s the part we build — quietly, precisely, and engineered to hold weight.

Before founding DarkMattr, our principal consultant trained as a security engineer, then spent over a decade in enterprise identity and cloud architecture roles — at AWS itself, and at two of the platforms DarkMattr now advises clients on.
